Veteran’s Day Parade, Flavor Run and Fort Worth Marathon

We had another exciting weekend at Panther Island Pavilion with the Veteran’s Day Parade, Flavor Run and Fort Worth Marathon!

Friday morning the Veteran’s Day Parade started at The Shack at Panther Island Pavilion. This year’s theme was “Honoring Blue and Gold Star Vietnam Veteran Families” and featured over 4,500 participants composed of veterans, active military, Junior ROTC groups, school bands, and civic and patriotic organizations. The Grand Marshal was Shannon Spake of the National League of POW/MIA families.

Saturday morning, over 450 participants came to Panther Island Pavilion for the Second Annual Flavor Run 5k – Fort Worth. Unlike most color runs, the Flavor Run uses fruit flavored power produced by local vendors for 100% quality fun. The fruit flavors featured were strawberry, blueberry, watermelon, banana, grape and orange.

Sunday morning, the 10th Annual Fort Worth Marathon was held at The Shack at Panther Island Pavilion. Over 1,000 participants took part in the half marathon, 20-miler or marathon distance. The Fort Worth Marathon is a non-profit organization which raises money to benefit the Run Like a Cheetah program in Tarrant County. Run Like a Cheetah is dedicated to ending childhood obesity by educating children on a healthy, active lifestyle through the use of instructors from a select group of international professional athletes as well as local volunteers.
