Permitted Level Green Water Activities
Wading by children and adults, swimming, water skiing by permit, diving, tubing, surfing, kayaking, canoeing, stand-up paddle boarding, catch & release fishing, and handfishing as defined by Texas Parks and Wildlife Code ยง 66.115.
Permitted Level Yellow Water Activities
Wading by adults, kayaking, canoeing, stand-up paddle boarding, and catch & release fishing.
Permitted Level Red Water Activities
NONE. Due to water velocity creating turbid conditions and floating debris, the river and riverbanks are closed for public safety. TURN AROUND. DON'T DROWN.
NOTICE: The water activity flag system is only available during the Summer tubing season. Level designations are provided for your convenience to help you assess which activities may be most suitable at any given moment. Daily designations and related activities are made based on a combination of variables including, but not limited to: flow rates, weather conditions, recent water quality testing results, known construction activities, reported issues, upstream conditions, and guidelines provided by 30 Texas Administrative Code Chapter 307. River conditions are never constant, conditions can change in an instant and it may not be immediately apparent. If conditions have changed since a level designation was made it may not be known. It is your responsibility to determine what activity may be most suitable. Your decision should consider all information available to you, including, but not limited to: posted level designations, site observations, age, physical condition, and skill level.
