The 5th Oktoberfest Fort Worth, wrapped up on September 29 at Panther Island Pavilion. This three-day festival brought over 13,000 people and included traditional German music, from entertainers like Alpenmusikaten, Walburg Boys, Alpine Village Band, Das Ist Lustig and Auf Geht’s. Guests enjoyed various German food and biers! Spaten was served, along with other Fall and Oktoberfest craft beers from around the country.

Willkommen to one of the most festive times of the fall season. Oktoberfest dates back to the 19th century, initially celebrating the marriage of Prince Ludwig of Bavaria and Princess Therese of Saxony-Hildburghausen on October 12, 1810. Today, people recognize the holiday internationally, commemorating German culture and the commencement of fall.

Oktoberfest festivities are hosted all around the Dallas area, giving Dallasites a combination of good ol’ fashioned fun and some historic, German tradition. Here’s where to participate.

Fort Worth

When: September 27 to 29

The Fort Worth Oktoberfest festivities invite visitors to come with curiosity and leave with satisfaction. Located at The Shack at Panther Island Pavilion, the Fort Worth observance is packed with activities like a 20-mile run, 5k, fun run, beer barrel rolling race, live music, and clothing, food, and drink vendors. When visiting, check out the bier gartens and spaten for authentic German beer and bites. Some food items to look out for include sausage platters, German cheese boards, German potato pancakes, and strudel. Ticket prices vary for each day. While a 3-day pass is $15, Thursday tickets are $5, Friday tickets are $10, and Saturday tickets are $10. The event runs from 5 p.m. until 11 p.m. on Thursday, September 27, 5 p.m. until 11 p.m. on Friday, September 28, and 11 a.m. until midnight on Saturday, September 29. If you are looking for an abundance of fun, this is one spot you will not want to miss.

Cody Jinks’ Inaugural Loud and Heavy Fest

Cody Jinks brought his inaugural Loud and Heavy Fest to his hometown of Fort Worth, Saturday August 18th at Panther Island Pavilion! The day was packed with music from Ward Davis which started the festival off on the Heavy Stage, to Sunny Sweeny, Paul Cauthen, Colter Wall, Nikki Lane, Whitey Morgan, The Sword, Whiskey Meyers, Corrosion of Conformity and the night ended on the Loud Stage with Cody Jinks.

Oktoberfest Fort Worth guests enjoy traditional German food, bier, live music, dancing, shopping vendors and much more. The festival kicks off with Thursday’s ceremonial ‘Tapping of the Kegs’ and the fun continues through Saturday with dachshund races, German style competitions, Oktoberfest Olympics, the Oktoberfest Run und Ride and more.

Entertainment will include traditional German music, on multiple stages, from entertainers like Alpenmusikaten, Walburg Boys, Alpine Village Band, Das Ist Lustig and Auf Geht’s.

Spaten will be served, along with other Fall and Oktoberfest craft beers from around the country. Traditional German food offerings such as bratwursts, pretzels, strudel, schnitzel and German potato pancakes will also be available. Festival goers can enjoy the air-conditioned Spaten Hall as well as multiple outdoor and tented biergartens.  Shopping vendors will be on hand with traditional German Lederhosen or Dirndl and a variety of other German accessories.

Reata Restaurant brings back its unique pop-up German dining option – Reata Haus. The VIP dining experience, treats guests to an authentic three-course meal complete with non-alcoholic beverages, gratuity and air-conditioned seating. Other perks include complimentary festival admission and a commemorative stein.

Festival tickets range from $5-$15 and are available for purchase online through September 26. Advance tickets are guaranteed a free 2018 commemorative Oktoberfest stein. While supplies last, a limited number of steins will be available for tickets purchased at the gate. Admission is free for children under 12 years of age with a paying adult.

New this year is a special festival preview experience on Wednesday, September 26, that offers corporations or individuals the opportunity to purchase a table of eight for a private evening of culture and celebration complete with a plated German meal from Reata Haus, entertainment, bier and more!
