SUMMARY:Freedom First BBQ Cook-Off
DESCRIPTION:Calling all pit masters! In celebration of Juneteenth\, Unity Unlimited is hosting an IBCA sanctioned BBQ cook-off with Head Judge Jenn Sewell and Event Chair Randy White. \nJuneteenth celebrations have always been celebrated with great food. The most traditional and subsequently synonymous with Juneteenth is barbecue. With the new freedom gained to choose what they eat\, participants from then to now share in the spirit and aromas of great food cooked in the open outdoors. Hence\, the barbecue pit is often established as the center of attention at Juneteenth celebrations\, and this year we are making it part of our tradition here in DFW. \nThere will be 3 categories for judging: chicken\, ribs\, and brisket. Check in is June 30th with tray pick-up between 4:00-6:00PM and Head Cook’s meeting at 6:00PM. The registration fee is $150. \nJudging will commence July 1st with the awarding ceremony at 5:00PM.
